I got my Sunpower app installed in my new tablet and see that for 5 days now, i'm producing 35KWh per day. Cool. Winter was a constant 26. So if, maybe hopefully, this system may on a nice sunny day in May, hit 50kwh, thats kinda sorta close to the solid 55kwh that I need EVERY DAY just to break even? I'm still not feeling all warm and fuzzy here! LOL But I noticed my panels are really dirty so this may be cleaning day AGAIN! Need to get them babies clean and shiny! My weird neighbor suggest putting parabolic mirrors around my roof focused on the panels? Yes, no? (JK) but it sure would look cool!Comment

So after 3 bills in 2016 what is your total payments including lease? Around $480? And with 3 equalizer payments of $240 you would be at $720? So you're currently ahead $240 + value of banked kWh?Comment

I'm just going very simple math comparison. Month vs month, '15 vs '16. Expecting another full bill tomorrow.
But its hot here for April, 95 right now at near 6pm. 2 Evaps running about 50% duty but as long as the humidity stays down, they do fine. But when the moisture hits, I'm on with 2 refers using between 70 - 90kwh per day on panels that may max at 45-50. Going to be interesting.Comment

For the winter, I was producing 27kwh per day. Now I'm up to 33-37, SunPower says 50 max. (Sigh)Comment

Got half of my shop roof coated. Storm hit the next day, lost a few shingles. You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Sorry to hear you have to work so hard to cut usage.
Can you tell if the white goop is helping?
Earlier, you said you didn't like LED light... what are you using indoors? (And have you tried LEDs with color temperature 2700k? The Osram bulbs at Lowe's work great here.)Comment

Not sure on the coating. In Phx. roof surface Temps hit 140 degrees mid day. My roof is my ceiling too. It's inslated with acustic tiles too. Shingles are about done so this is a good money saver short term and will get roof temp. down to
LED's for me are just too harsh. I'm using softer CFL's for now, $2 for 3 new bulbs through the power company, no limit.Last edited by Markinphoenix; 04-18-2016, 12:57 AM.

Finally got my March bill from APS figured into my basic bottom line cost of electricity from '15 vs. /16. As of the March bill, I am out of pocket $99.29, meaning that month to month, year to year, i've paid just shy of $100 for the wonderful privilege of having pretty panels on my roof. Also, at last usage numbers, i've trimmed my usage by close to 21% now. Bottom line is compared to the numbers used for the lease of 16,223 total per average of 3 years. Thank you Harmon Solar! But according to them, i'm still on track to save $880 this year! Yea, screw them!
But as daytime temps are now getting close to 100 degrees, the A/C on the house is getting close to coming on full time. If I run both evap coolers on high with minimal lighting, my panels will NOT keep up during peak production here of 10am to 1pm. Sad indeed. I can hardly wait till mid summer needing 90kwh per day on a system that only makes, so far, a peak of 37! But i've banked "on peak" credits..........................which will last about 11 days at a need of 85-90kwh per day!Comment

Once again, your analysis is flawed. You need to compare what your electricity bill would be without solar to what it is with solar. To do that, you need good numbers on how much you are actually consuming. Just because the A/C is coming on and you aren't able to produce more than you are using, does not mean that the system is not saving you money.CS6P-260P/SE3000 - http://tiny.cc/ed5ozxComment

Ok, I just used the new "estimate my solar system" calculator. I understand its kinda sorta accurate but it actually came up very close to my 16,223 numbers from 3 years average.
It says I need a 11.64kw system, producing a yearly total of 18,170. Sooooooo, since SunPower says my wizz bang panels produce 357 watts, just how many panels should I need to make the estimators number of 18,170? I come up with 52. ? really? Wow! Using this math, for my 16,223 divided by 357, I needed 45, but got 18. Since i'm now lowering my actual usage by about 20% my new number needed would be 12,978. Divided by 357 equals 36 panels!!! Bingo!!! I have a winner! same thing my utility says, my current 18 PLUS 14-18 MORE!!
Am I right in my figureing? or out in the south forty somewere? LOL (remember, this was sold as a 100% coverage system!)Comment
