Solar Cook-Off in Taylorsville
I'm not certain whether the following link will be removed or not but here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_J9Xbx3GZyY
If it is removed, just do a search on YouTube for the Taylorsville Solar Cookoff 2012. There are a bunch of talented, creative people who use solar ovens a lot of the time!!Comment

Yes that's true, last time I saw cookies baked into a car through a windscreen (during 3h30)
Since few days I cook all my lunchs with my solar cooker
A nice solar barbecue reaches > 500°F immediately. 1 hour for a chicken, 20 min for sausages... without any smoke or any fat, simply awesome !

Why would anyone want to remove that link? Not advertising - just a bunch of people with foil lined boxes in a cow pasture.I'm not certain whether the following link will be removed or not but here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_J9Xbx3GZyY

I have an SOS Oven and have never had any problem of baking bread or browning. It takes about the same time as in the breadmaker.Foods cooked in solar ovens DOES taste different. Like it's only been steamed or boiled. breads/cake/cookies are marginal. I've been in the desert, trying to bake cookies in bright sun on a hot day, after 45 min, they still were not cooked. Things don't "brown" in a solar oven, until you get to the large concentrator types:

Eventually, at 50 suns, hot dogs come out OK, in 60 secondsComment

I have baked hundreds of biscuits in a solar oven they look and taste EXACTLY the same as when cooked in a gas oven. Anyone that says solar ovens dont get hot enough to bake perfectly either have never used one (the most likely case)or used a very badly designed and made one.
To brown biscuits you need about 160deg C . A good solar oven can get above 200deg C.Comment
