One of the recent energy sage email blasts had an interesting article about a few utilities in New England running battery storage pilots, where they subsidize the cost in exchange for limited load management rights.
The idea of battery storage with islanding capabilities is really appealing, but the quoted two powerwalls would have more than doubled the cost of our system, and was more than three times the installed cost of a whole home gas generator. If PSE&G decides to get in on the act, I'd certainly be interested.

It COULD always be added later I'm sure, maybe a little more complicated connection, but hopefully the pricing might come down as well in coming years. Right now you're looking at about $7k per Powerwall before incentives and while that not far off a whole house generator install it makes more sense in states where you could also use that Powerwall for off-peak charging...no such incentive here in NJ, or at least with JCP&L.Leave a comment:

I almost pulled the trigger on a single Tesla Powerwall.... so it could cover small outages and still run solar during those times. They recommend two of them.... but one should last an entire day.Leave a comment:

Caught my first power outage the other day, luckily a short one. Good to know the inverter is being tested to all the production variables early on.

10-days running as of today....

So yesterday at some point I noticed my highest Peak Output @ 11400W matching my inverter size.
Just searching through other favorited systems on PVoutput I sometimes see peaks HIGHER than their rated inverter at times....Is there a bit of overhead on some units and not others?

But an interesting aspect is that they are rated on output AMPS. Thus when the grid Voltage is a bit high, almost all inverters can output a bit more watts.Leave a comment:

So yesterday I noticed my electric meter was changed. The electric company showed up unannounced some time yesterday morning and did their thing. My kids were home
Here's what you should request, "Full Access, with Site Owner Access box checked."
You can try Christine Schneider directly, she's the one who helped me out...... cschneider@greenpowerenergy.com

Hey ButchDeal, my access only shows "Dashboard" and "Layout" how would I get the "Owner" profile with more tools. Should I email Solaredge or GPE?
full admin is for installers.
Owners should have full owner access which does show the "admin" tab but more limited.
You can set allerts, view graphs of all monitored spots.
Installer Admins can re-pair and view the online screen (interact with it actually and do anything through it can can do locally).
As well as change the layout and strings etc.Leave a comment:

Connecting panels of different alignment to the same inverter can allow longer hours of production
and a higher DC:AC ratio with little clipping. That is not practical with micro inverters. Bruce RoeLeave a comment:

Even at 1.31 ratio PV watts is only calculating a teeny tiny difference in annual output vs even 1.00. Therefore think its worth spending extra $300 that installer is asking for 26 iq7+ micros instead of iq7 or is there something else to it I'm missing out on. In other words would I break even on the extra amount theoretically?Last edited by njdealguy; 09-07-2019, 09:43 PM.Leave a comment:
