Ok... my first day of TOU DT action. Take these numbers at your own risk.... ALL ARE APPROXIMATED!!
From Midnight until 7am, I bought 6 KWH's of power off peak @ $ 0.13 a KWH for a total of $3.12
From 8 am until 11am I generated 10 KWH's of off peak power @ $0.13.. with a value of $1.30
From Noon until 5pm I generated 20 KWH's of peak power @ $0.22.. with a value of $4.40
From 6pm until Midnight, I bought 18 KWH's of off peak power @ $0.13 KWH for $2.34
Total Generated: $5.70
Total Purchased: $3.12
Net Gain : $2.58
Running these same numbers at a standard flat Tier 1 rate of $0.15 a KWH generates these numbers
Total Generated : $4.50
Total Purchased : $3.60
Net Gain : $0.90
I'm sure these numbers are wrong, dont hold me to the nearest penny ( or dime..or quarter!!) but it gives you ( and me) at least an idea of the differences between a standard " Domestic" account, and the "TOU-DT" account...
Time will tell at the end of the month...Comment

Everone is different, but it wont hurt if you do some comparison. Here is my usage and pricing planComment

Yeah, based on InsaneOctane's work linked a couple pages ago, and comments in many other forums, it seems the TOU-D-A comes out ahead of TOU-D-T more often for solar owners, despite the less favorable peak hours.CS6P-260P/SE3000 - http://tiny.cc/ed5ozxComment

I see your installer used 10 gauge wire... my installer said they use 12 gauge but can use 10 gauge if I demand it. My question is there really going to be a difference in one versus the other?
I am using 36 of the enphase 215 micros (my panels are canadian solar 250w). He said the micro trunk cable is 12 gauge because they are 20 amp circuits with no more than 17 micros to a circuit.

If 12 AWG is large enough to meet code, the decision to go larger could be based on the additional cost of the heavier wire vs the value of the energy you keep because it has lower resistance. That decision will depend on how long the run of wire will be. For example 15 A going 20 ft (one way distance) in 12 AWG should drop 0.4%. In 10 AWG, the drop would be 0.25%. If the distance is longer, say 100 ft, it is 1.98% drop in 12 AWG, and 1.25% drop in 10 AWG. You can use a voltage drop calculator to compare your options.CS6P-260P/SE3000 - http://tiny.cc/ed5ozxComment

I did 10ga to avoid the resistance of a long run between my S/W corner solar panels, on my N/E located electrical buss panel, for any future expansion onto my West facing side if a Tesla shows up someday, and for just good building practice.
"Code" usually mean the minimum acceptable amount.
I want to exceed code..Comment
