The inverter size is right on the borderline for that size system, your next possible step up would be utilizing two 3.6kW Power-One inverters instead. I'd ask the company to quote you how much more it would be to go up to the two smaller inverters, it shouldn't be all that much.

Okay I signed paperwork on a system late last week. Here is what I ordered.
(18) Sunpower X21-345 Panels
(1) Power-One PVI 6000 inverter
System Cost = $29,906
Tax Credit = $8,971
Net Cost = $20,935
DC STC Rating = 6210 kW
First yr production = 11,649 kWh
Current annual usage = 14,074 kWh
Gross Cost/kW DC = $4.81
Net Cost/kW DC = $ 3.37
I went with a little smaller system then originally planned due to once they actually did a site survey, they discovered that 21 panels would not fit on the one roof and would have to be either downsized or split between the two roofs. I decided that I wanted to keep them all on one roof I case I wanted to add more panels to the other roof down the road for some reason.
This includes production and consumption monitoring and a 12 year roof warranty. It's supposed to be installed and final inspects by August 9th. Then it's waiting on PG&E to install the net meter.Comment

Congrats on the great pricing, Joker. I've interviewed nine companies and right now my best quote for an 18-panel Sunpower X21 345 system is $5.18 gross/kW (I am in Orange County). If your company does work down here, can you please PM me with their contact info? (my post count isn't high enough to PM yet)
Thanks!Comment

Please PM me as well. I have a about the same price as yours but for 16 panels vs 18 so would definitely be interested. Is this a cash only offer or could you also do the Sunpower loan?Comment
