  • Set up problem or full battery?

635C06BC-D1ED-43C7-8BC3-1C70182A533C.jpeg I have four Renogy 100 W panels wired in parallel.

I tested each panel individually, while hooked up to a battery that is 100% full. Each individual panel was giving me 20 V and approximately 2 A

when I hooked all four together the charge controller was still saying roughly 20 V and roughly 2 A.

do I have a problem somewhere or is the battery so full that the charge controller is not putting more into it?

First guess, is the battery is full.

Question "charge controller was still saying roughly 20 V and roughly 2 A."
When you measure the 20V, is that at the battery or the PV panel ? The 2 amps, at the panel or the battery ?

Those numbers are all coming from the charge controller. How can I figure out the amps on a solar panel with a multimeter?

Is the 20V the panel voltage or the battery voltage ? The controller manual should state how to display specific values

I found another battery and hook it up. Then I was getting 19 V and 18 A which makes sense.
Thank you for your advice on the battery.

Hopefully that battery is rated around 200Ah. If it is less than 150Ah those 18 charging amps can cook it.

Is the 19V the voltage of the panel, or the battery?

                170Ah Lithium. For what it
is worth The manufacture says maximum charging is 50 A.

I believe that is the panel.

I believe you might be right . or you might be wrong. I don't care. I'm an engineer and I deal in facts. You can believe the fuse is not lit, but the dynamite won't care what you believe.

I believe the fire is out, and it's OK to fill the gas tank. Do you get what I mean ?
I believe the lane next to me is empty . Whoops.
