I was listening into a conversation at the weekend where the guy was talking about some new saline battery solution that is set to revolutionize the solar industry as an energy storage device. Many times better than all present battery technology. I felt I didn't know enough about battery storage solutions to join in the conversation, but does anyone know what the hell he was talking about?? or had he been smoking something? or is there indeed some wonder solution just around the corner. Is this a fuel cell? He said it's also being used in a new supercar. Anyone point me in the right direction to read up on this technology?

In a Car yes is what they were promoted for.

20 wh/Kg and max C-Rate of C/6 for a car is some really funny stuff. They must live in Colorado smoking Sour Diesel.

The saline part sounds like Aquion, but if so I don't see how it could be marketed for anything that is defined as a "supercar". The energy density is low and it has higher internal resistance than other chemistries. It would be a good way to transform a Tesla into a vintage Volkwagen bus.

Well if you followed them from the start that is exactly the market they were looking for. Once the numbers came out that the EV sector said go fly a kite, so now to salvage the effort trying RE.

Although Off Topic, there is another company that makes modular solar/wind turbine systems called SolarMill. They have a few installed in the US but many more in the Caribbean.

The thing is I have not been able to find a price on any of their systems which tells me that are not cheap.

There are two models. According to their FAQ list the Windstax 20 can produce 1100w base, 1800w rated and 3600w max for $14,900.

The 40 unit can produce 2100w base, 4000w rated and 7500w max for $29,900.

Pretty costly to me.

They also mention some kind of battery to store energy.

If Aquion is looking for a market to sell their batteries it makes sense to couple up with a company that builds RE generators for remote locations.
