Oh wow! Molten salt tech is more or less dead but projects take years to catch on. It is only good for a couple of hours.

Wasn't Spain working on molten salt technology? They were using concentrated solar to heat the salts. I thought they were doing well with it and showed a minimal delta T after 8 hours of no sunlight.Comment

I haven't read that about the minimal delta T but just the thermal cycling will kill of such plants I believe.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Comment

It was a while ago the I had read the article that in Spain they had gotten their salts to stay hot enough through the night to stay above the fluid set point and still have enough heat to create steam and generate electricity. Go below that set point and the salt turns to rock.
It was touch and go but I though there was a breakthrough. I guess not.Comment
