You didn't mention what state you're in but here in California you can access the PV installation data. This data is available for anyone to download and contains a myriad of information on each PV installation. We use the information to determine how many completed projects each installer has done in our area, how quickly they get the system to PTO after install, and the cost of similar sized system.

Yup, that's it. Had to put my limited Excel skill set to use to make the data more digestible. Some of the solar installers we talked to were caught off guard by how much we knew about their previous projects and that level set the amount of BS they'll try to feed you.

I've been using it for years as the old CSI database.
One the best tools in the box that few know about.
Full of lots of stuff vendors don't want you to know, primarily prices, but lots of other stuff as well.
