Hi Steve and welcome to Solar Panel Talk, I would recommend that you start with a bunch of reading if you have no experience with solar then start asking questions, try the sticky posts here https://www.solarpaneltalk.com/forum...-for-your-home cheers -
The weather not cooperating. I swear it has rained more in the last year and
1/2 since going solar than it did before getting it. So much for sunny Florida. Still happy though.Comment

drought here for so long it killed a lot of my trees. Since the month my solar went active, we have
had constant, record breaking rain, snow, and ice. However I learned to make a lot of KWH anyway.

Getting the appropriate labels made up.
Note before you install a system make sure your utility is "solar friendly" some rural electric coops and on occasion large utilities have rate structures and regulations that make a grid connected system a very poor investment.Comment

Really only minor issues that I knew before I purchased. I'm grid-tied and my power company resets my banked power account just before I could use it the most (my reset is the end of April) so I get a check for roughly $100 instead of being able to use roughly 3000kWh of energy credit as summer gets here. My neighbor has a beautiful eucalyptus tree that shades my panels partially in the morning for about a one month period in December. No big deal. I'm going on 4 years with no net billable energy costs. I only pay a meter connection fee monthly. We did all the best energy conservation measures on the house and our lifestyle before sizing and buying a system.
BTW...IMHO, never lease a system or put one on a home you plan to sell in less than 10 years. Not worth it. Invest the money elsewhere.Dave W. Gilbert AZ

Unexpected tax increase.....
Our local Ann Arbor Mi location (which is supposed to be the greenest place east of the Mississippi) raised our taxable value $20k after our 7k system was installed. Which came out to $244 a year....Which takes off over 2 months of payback every year, or equal to a increase payback time of almost 20%.... Not Happy....Comment

So as I've heard it, even fully owned solar pv systems tend to not have any impact on sales prices of homes. So have any homeowners challenged these increased valuations with any success?Comment
