    I think the salesman's main point was that having pannels without the microinverters is obsolete. Seems like the more unbiased answer is that those panels are still perfectly good.

    Your salesman is trying to sell what he has. He is trying to convince you that micros are the way of the future when they clearly are not.
    Also the idea that one set of PV modules is OLDER tech than the other also seems strange. I wouldn't give this sales person any credit other than being very full of BS.
