Potential Injury or Death Disclaimer for PNG grid-tie panels

There's a little $1000 DIY home grid-tie system being advertized on CL. eBay, etc. Just for laughs I went to see how they deal with it being illegal to use in the USA. Anyone read their disclaimer? They treat safety like it's a big joke. This is just a small part of the disclaimer page. It only gets worse. Google PNG200 and look for the disclaimer page. What a laugh.

PNG200 -Potential Injury Or Death - Risk Discloser
The highest potential risk for this product is death by fire. Because like any appliance it gets warm when it is being used and excessive heat can cause a fire. It is not UL listed yet. The second potential risk is death by electrocution if you try to swim with it in your pool while plugged in. The third potential risk is death by strangulation by any of the wiring or cords. A fourth potential risk of death is by crushing if the kit were to somehow fall on you. A fifth risk from potential death is by thousand cuts by smashed glass or other possible sharp or pointy places on the kit. A sixth risk of potential death is from attempting to eat any of the kit or its packaging.

Your utility may not like that you have connected to "their" grid. If you have any question about any requirements your utility may demand, please contact your local utility provider BEFORE making your purchase. We make no claim utilities are required to allow you to use this equipment on "their" grid.

This kit is not yet eligible for any rebates or tax credits so don't even bother to apply. If your utility discovers via your application they may send their private "electricity police" to come sniff around your property to see what is going on with you generating your own electricity without "their permission".

I just love "truth in advertising" even if it is only listed in the disclaimer

Too funny. The website link is listed as: Risk "discloser" for the text in the first post.

Given the general lack of intelligence, no, I wouldn't be surprised.

Yea. If decreasing the numbers of such awards is a goal, that relies on improvements in the gene pool that occur when non thinkers buy dangerous stuff with the loss of life leading to consequent reductions in breeding.

Getting close to the stuff of eugenics here.

It isn't eugenics. The Darwin award is under the philosophy that the stupidest among us are removing themselves.
Of course the problem with that is regulations, and safety constraints on devices are preventing that from happening, the corollary is that the internet is opening back up the capacity.

Along with no controls on the gene pool.

That's the 'second potential risk' mentioned...

Sort of off topic here, but all the regulation may have the effect of hastening the dumbing down by allowing brain atrophy from lack of use. The internet isn't helping - instant answers of questionable accuracy with no mental effort. Just opinion.

My point about the internet helping was that it is possible to get answers and equipment that without any thought and direct implementation are likely to get the reader dead quickly.
Yes there are right answers as well but the noise to signal ration is high and as we have seen here it is sometimes difficult to convince people that what they are planning to implement is likely to reduce their utility bill only through inability to bill the dead.

And now we have cars that can drive themselves and parallel park. Also seems kinda funny how the younger generations cant drive a stick shift manual transmission.

Don't forget they don't even need a key anymore to start the car. Just push the go button.
