  • What's the update interval for SolarEdge monitoring?

Does anyone know the interval when SolarEdge update its data? my panel rea 3.2kw portal reads 900w. 900 watts would mean like 7:30 this morning. Relatively sunny day

You using the browser monitoring portal? From my limited experience the dashboard doesn't auto update. You need to refresh the page and it will pull the most recent data

The other possibility is the common zigbee inverter communication failure. Might not be pulling any data

I've found that the zigbees are usually slower than a direct or powerline communicator connection. Direct connection updates every 15 minutes, but you may have to refresh the site.

Ill run an ethernet cable to it to see if it improve any

I just got access to my monitoring website and I'm setup with the GSM Cellular kit. It seems to be updating every 4 hours. I called SolarEdge to see if they could set it in "High Bandwidth" and they told me that they couldn't because I'm using the Cellular kit. Has anyone been able to update the refresh rate using the Cellular kit any other way? Looking at the Cellular kit manual, it seems that it should be editable from the inverter itself but I cannot find that menu item.

Doesn't the cellular kit come with the first year of data free?
If so they would have a financial incentive to NOT provide you with a way to increase the amount of data since they're paying the cellular carrier for each extra byte sent.
My guess would be the firmware tells the cellular kit what to do for a refresh rate, and it's possible to change it via a firmware change. But it's not something they want to give an end user.

I just plugged in an Ethernet cable (I setup an old Wi-Fi router that I had sitting around as an Ethernet Bridge) and change the setup to use the LAN connection to connect to the server instead of Cellular. It seems to be updating every 15 minutes now...

If you get an API key from your intaller, you can use PVOutput (or write your own script) to get inverter data every 5 min.

Pvoutput is 15 mins unless you donate to them, then you can turn in the 5 min updates.
Solaredge over Ethernet should be 5 min with or without pvoutput though.

My Solaredge is definitely every 15 minutes. You can see it here: https://monitoringpublic.solaredge.c...ame=Lebanon_NJ

That view only shows 15 minute data. Click on the Chart icon near the top (you didn't share it with others), then select the inverter on the left, graph say AC power, zoom into an hour on any day....
on the sample from one of our sites you can clearly see data point at 12:20, 12:25, 12:30, etc....

I can confirm this on my system as well. My installer did the GSM kit but I was unhappy with the resolution, so I ran an Ethernet cable this past weekend (June 17). All my data up thru the 17th is at 15 minute rez. Starting on the 18th I'm at 5 minute (I plugged in the cable after the sun was down on the 17th to not interrupt production). Unfortunately there's no caching of info in the inverter apparently to be able to pull a day or two earlier than that retroactively.

It's also worth noting that after inverter startup, it will report at 5 minute intervals for about the first hour it seems (I had to restart mine because of an isue and got about an hour of 5 minute data while still on GSM). Note that this doesn't appear to be the case after waking up from night mode

For what it is worth, the inverter may not cache messages successfully sent, but it does buffer. If you lose your internet connection entirely, it will store a couple weeks (+/- depending on number of optimizers, etc) of data, and push it all to the portal when reconnected.

I really wish they would add inverter temperature to the charts. I imagine it's being logged on the 5 min update.

Yeah, that's why many of us just upload to pvoutput which does display it. And yes it is logged at 5 minute intervals
