And you say that why? People who signed up for solar rates previously with be now penalized and maybe never get the promised payback. All kinds of monthly fees only to solar owners. Buy electricity at retail; sell back to Nevada energy for wholesale. How is that good for solar?Comment

Well some people really have no interest in solar or should I say the moving forward of the solar industry, these people have vested interests in the status quo, that's life, you just have to recognize it for what it isComment

I would have thought on a solar forum, that people would have interest in keeping solar moving forward.
For anyone who is interested, one lawsuit has already been filed to force Governor Sandoval to release phone text records to the PUC he refused to release under the freedom of information act. Another is likely in the works because of today's decision. From the Las Vegas Sun today:
Bryan Miller, president of the Alliance for Solar Choice, said his organization is considering legal action.
In a similar situation in Wisconsin, the commission acted without evidence and attempted to eliminate the solar industry, said Miller, also an executive at rooftop solar company Sunrun. TASC sued and TASC won, and TASC expects to do the same here.

What? The large utility gets everything they want?
Here is an article about the PUC decision.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal is Nevada's most trusted source for local news, Las Vegas sports, business news, gaming news, entertainment news and more.
ONCE again, NV Energy is an allowed monopoly for the benefit of both the company and the customer.
Sometimes the people at the top of the large utilities seem to think the company exists solely so they can get a bonus
by screwing of thousands of people. It is not suppose to work that way.Comment

What is it you are trying to say? Vested interest in the status quo? The status quo would have preserved the existing tariffs, which were friendly to solar. This change will stop the solar industry in Nevada, not move it forward. And I'm not talking the big guns like First Solar that lease and such. People like myself that will do much of the work ourselves will have trouble making numbers work.

This battle is much like what happened with cell phones, IMHO. Big energy monopolies do not want to have distributed power, like rooftop solar, as it will kill their monopoly. Similarly, cells phones distributed the money around to the point that local telcos are pretty much dead. Some predict as battery storage gets more affordable(it is), many will go off grid.Comment

Do you work for free?
If you sell stuff how long can you stay in biz if you sell it for what it cost you?
You are not entitled to anything. You paid your money and gambled. You lost, suck it up.

Why should the poor and working class pay for your luxury? You can afford it without their help. There is no energy shortage.

What is the message provided by your utility? Buy solar then pray and hope we don't change the rules so the CEO of the company can get a bonus.
Here it is solar is Rainbows and Unicorns and we as the benevolent utility want to help make the world a better place.
