    Lowest $/W for SunPower system

    Howdy All,

I'm interested to know what the lowest $/W people have gotten in So Cal for a SunPower system? I'm in San Diego, and won't necessarily go with a Sun Power system, but I'm interested if people are seeing the high prices that I am:

    System 1:
    8.3Kw
    $4.71/W

    System 2:
    6.87Kw
    $$4.50/W

    Cheers!

FWIW, the lowest S.P. price I've seen on a contract or until funding ran out on the CSI program was $4.50/Watt for S.P. 327's and a S.P. string inverter. See CSI database # SD-CSI-17646. There are probably others since then that I'm not aware of, and I've seen a few contracts for S.P. equipment that were close, like $4.54 and $4.58/Watt, but that $4.50/Watt is the lowest price I've seen with backup evidence and supporting documentation.

I've also seen a lot of ~~ $3.30 to $3.70/Watt systems equally fit for purpose, just not S.P., that have about the same annual kw/yr. per installed kW.

I have a quote for ~$3.85 / watt for SP including dual mppt SMA inverter at ~ 5 Kw system size. I came to this calculation by assuming the electrical panel upgrade I needed was worth $2500 and pulling it out of the quotes. Lower end LG panels (w/ ever popular SE optimizers and inverters) at about 60 cents less per watt. I'm leaning heavily towards the LG as I don't see a clear ROI on the SP.

This is from a recommended (by you folks) installer here in San Diego without haggling.

FWIW: I believe your pricing. Congrads.

Using SAM for an output estimate, LG 300's are est. to have an equal or slightly greater annual output per installed Watt than S.P. 327's using TMY3 Miramar data and my orientation.

Thanks J.P.M and mungoSoCal that's very helpful.

mungosocal, would you mind PMing me the installer?

          Cheers!

            Just got another quote in:

            System 3:

            8.84 Kw
            Kyocera 260 panels
            Enphase M215 micro-inverters
            $ 3.88 w

Look like I'm still not getting close to your pricing mungosocal

Now I hope you are referring to the actual person who recommended said installer, as I am one of the folks here and let me assure you I or the forum do not recommend installers. I don't want to see people using this forum to make money through referral programs, I suspect that may already be happening

Yes, I meant a recommendation (which I solicited via pm) from a single member not this forum. A poor choice of words on my part.

I've seen as low as $3.35 in the Phoenix area.

To be clear, was that before, or after tax credit, "friends & family discount" discount, for a dealer's own use, etc. ? Did you see the contract ?

Basic price per watt on a 10kW system without any discounts or other funny business involved.

I have seen prices like that.
But have always been for end of life panels ( discontinued panels not used)

Even at $3.35 per watt this puts my 8.5 kw system yielding a cost of 28475 , now take off the federal 30% rebate that gives a $20000 cost. The interest (at 3%) on $20000 would be $600, yielding a savings of about $600 per year, giving a payback period of 33 years, 8 years beyond the best warranty

I was quoted a cost of $16,000 for my 8.5kw system, I am now wondering how this is possible.....
