With the 2014 winter solstice fast approaching tomorrow.... my system is still nearly covering demand.
I was 2.5 KwH under yesterday.... a whopping $0.47 for power for the day.
I like solar!!!

I think a decent dart throw in a warm climate like CA is probably something like 2.5 - 3 miles/kWh, +/- some. Probably less at 10 deg. F. @ 70 mi/hr. on a clear freeway. Tesla sort of implies 265miles/85 kWh ~ 3.1 miles/kWh. My neighbor has one and seems to confirm. BTW, the acceleration is addictive and will hurt your back. A real temptation. I'm holding out for the model 3 or they go bust at $2/gal. gas.Comment

Tesla would go bust if the government stopped wiping their nose with taxpayer money.6k LG 300, 16S, 2E, 2W, Solaredge P400s and SE5000Comment

Nice sunny day output in Aliso Viejo, on the 2nd shortest day of the year.
System threw in the towel of meaningful production by 3:45 or so... still got 27 KwH's out of the day.
Question for the group....
The spring equinox kicks off on March 20th, and the fall equinox ends "generation season" on sept. 23rd.
How much should the generation numbers rise? Somewhere into the 35-40 KwH range on bright sunny days?
That would be sweet!Comment

That's pretty sweet! What direction do your panels face? How many kWh are you using per day now in the winter?Comment

If I back out my solar generation on sunny days...... I would be buying about 22-25 KwH's a day from SCEComment

FYI, Clear day SWAGs for your system:
03/21 ~ 38-42 kWh/day
06/21 ~ 42-46 kWh/day
09/21 ~ 37-41 kWh/day
I'd stress these are CLEAR DAY guesses, not expected system output, average, or anything else, and are probably of little use. They are not predictions of long term system performance.Comment

You are most welcome. Suggest noting limited usefulness of the SWAG. Don't hold my feet too close to the fire on that one.
Many of us share your hope re: sunny days. Looks like another one on tap for today. Sunny days this time of year I think of my friends in Buffalo and their common winter weather related travails, and appreciate the San Diego weather.Comment
