But since the max amps the largest controller can put out is 93A (Midnight) you still need 2 controllers, or else you live with 1 controller running in current limit mode for several hours daily, which will likely cook it quickly. (in a couple months).Guys I keep saying that despite the math and any other factors, with my system, with 4 panels to one CC at the height of the day delivered 50amps(maybe 51). I was there I recorded it. Yes one CC if I go up to 24v , two CC if I stay 12v. I'll probably buy 2, use 2 at 12v, ..then go up to 24v after I get more $ to purchase 24v inverter. Then I'll have a spare CC just incase

I use a Craftsman Platinum. It has 2, 15, 40 and 125 i think are the levels. It is not a floor standing model. It has battery type choices which include their Platinum AGM battery. I've used my pretty often to maintain a few cars that dont get driven enough. They run about $89-99.Comment

You can also get a parallel cable and combine the output of the two of these together. It can sustain 1600 watts, and 1600 / 12v = 133 amps, however I would suggest running at 1/2 - 3/4 capacity for best efficiency. It does have DC output as well, but I would get a good three-stage charger and run it off the generator. I suppose you could also get a DC-DC charger but an AC charger would be more versatile IMO.Comment

I don't know if 40amps will charge my 1200ah battery bank. I've seen some commercial units that charge @20/50/80...Expensive tho.Comment

That is just a simple wattage calculation, not real life. A charger will have more loss, both Power Factor & Efficiency losses

40A @ 28V, about 1,242w input consumption. Much higher input needs to go to 240V because standard household outlets are not rated for higher power long term.
