    Is there a problem here regarding on working space? i'm adding a new disconnect in an electrical room. Thank you!

      What looks good on paper might not be what your local inspector will accept and guess who has the final word during a review? If you have a local authority who has to sign off on that work then that is who I would be asking for approval to be sure.

        I once went through a lot of grief in that same situation because the utility meter reader refused to approve it even though the utility plan checkers did. Utilities get to make their own rules when it comes to service installation so be sure and brush up on this phrase: "yez Master, I does what you sez"

          I agree. Someone can follow the NEC to the letter but it still comes down to the AHJ who will determine what is good and what isn't. On another aspect if you keep at least 3 foot clearance between an energized bus, wire or terminal and a grounded surface (like a wall or another metal panel) you should be ok. But again it is the AHJ the will say if even that is good.
