Yes. When exposed to neutrons transforms to U233 which is then split to generate energy. That turns into U235 and then into Plutonium. Thorium is the seed fuel used in Breeder reactors where one reactor makes the fuel for the next higher order reactor.MSEE, PEComment

So once it is turn to Plutonium can you recycle the Plutonium back to Thorium?Comment

That is kinda why I am here trying to educate myself. I don't want to know everything just some basic I guess. I keep seeing this on Thorium basically revolving around this youtube video claiming breakthroughs in Thorium.

More or less just fed up with seeing thing on the net and not knowing what is true and false. See I am part of what some would call the NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND PROGRAM. Basicly we were not educated properly and just passed through in order to get numbers. So I was robbed of a education! I remember days when the science teacher slept in her office all day. There main goal in my school was a class called (life management) Which basically taught you how to balance a checkbook, cooking, and stuff of that nature. So when some says our education system is trash it is true.Comment

Although you might not be able to obtain a professional degree, success does not depend on that. It is what is in your heart that makes you successful. There are millions of millionaires without a highschool education. All successful people have one thing in common. They are very passionate and tireless in their pursuit of happiness. You have to find that one thing you love to do and do not consider it to be work. It maybe hard to understand but successful people work their asses off but never work a single day in thief life. Here are a few names you will know:
Robert De Niro (actor)
Vidal Sassoon (orphan and hair stylist)
Kirk Kerkorian (Las Vegas Realestate and Financial Investor)
Peter Jackson (photographer and producer. He produced the Lord of the Rings movies)
Jessica Simpson. A great pair of (.)(.) and legs.
Larry Flint. Porno King
Billy Joel (musician and song writer)
Richard Carmona (US Surgeon General, yep a doctor)
Don Imus (disc jockey)
Sidney Poitier (actor)
Jay-Z and 50-cent (no comment)
George Foreman (boxer, salesman, and reverend)
Simon Cowell (billionaire talent agent and producer of American Idol and a dozen other shows)
David Murdock (billionaire founder of Dole Foods. Started selling pineapples on a cart. )
Richard Branson (one of the richest men in the world)
Jim Clark (another billionaire founder of Netscape, Shutterfly, and movie producer)
Bobby Flay, Graham Elliot and a thousand of other chefs owner operators slinging burgers.
So just figure out what you are good at doing and passionate about is all it takes. It is super easy to fail and blame someone. We all choose our destiny. So quit feeling sorry for yourself and blaming others. I am certain you can rise above it if you just try. You are in full control of your destiny.
Take this with you by Dave Ramsey:
“If you will live like no one else, later you can live like no one else.”
It means work your butt off today, save money, and live below your means today. Then later you can retire at a young age and live in great comfort and luxury. If you are lik eme, you never ever really retire as you enjoy what you do so much you will do it for free and give it all away.MSEE, PEComment

Learning how to cook is a useful skill - one that one would hope is learned in the home. Chemistry I found to be the toughest subject, physics my favorite. You were part of No Child Left Behind - I was part of New Math. I liked New Math, but it was scrapped as a failure, like adoption of the metric system. Go figure.Comment

When asked how he had gotten so rich he replied:

There is a joke about the adacemically challenged high schooler, voted least likely to succeed by his class, who showed up at the tenth reunion in a chauffeur driven limousine.

Thats is kinda funny I'm 31 and retired at 26 spent all my money although I was kinda smart about it bought land built a home and am now debt free. I made a lot of my money the same way sell in volume and undercut everyone else. School did one of those placement test on me once and it said I would be a engineer or a marrian macainic. Just so happens I really like to work on cars I actually use to do it for free for a lot of people just because I loved it so much but that stopped because people always like to say the mechanic messed their car up when it is just preventative maintenance. I could rebuild motor in my sleep. Heck I did a job the other day the guy was quoted 16 hours at the dealership I had it done in under 7 hour but it really was not all that much work really just 2cv axles, 4 ball joints, tie rods, and the drag link. It's getting it all lined back up with no machine that's a pain. But I have no true training just what I picked up by doing what I am here. I started working when I was 16. I actually took a job at a goodwill once for a dollar an hour no joke back in like 2000 I was almost 18 at the time. My best paid job for me I made 30 an hour but that was dealing with asbestos mold remediation and nasty junk like that. I made 1200 week before tax paid out 125 for rent on the ****tyis little run down shack I could find and saved the hell out my money. I like science, biology, mechanics, and like to make people think. I been taking every thing I can apart since I could hold a screwdriver. hows this for a joke some of you are grumpy when you have not had your 3.14 for the night. haha! This whole Thorium thing is because I am interested in a power source that is safer than uranium or plutonium that you can handle and is not weaponizable. From my understanding of a reactor the fuel rod is heated in a reaction that rod keeps the heat making more energy that energy is then used to heat liquid in order to heat another liquid which is water that water turns to steam and runs a series of steam turbine from high to low pressure. The smoke you see coming from the stack is not smoke but steam from a cooling system. From that video I posted they say you can handle Thorium, plutonium and uranium we use in weapons. I also like the ideal of the neodymium motor but think most if not all are fake. Now if there was a SAFE way of using Thorium in a home or automobile setting to make power that would be interesting.Comment
