One not really obvious reason to use the COB LED boards is that they are series regulated by a resistor, not by a switch mode regulator.....have you ever used a spectrum analyzer looking at switch mode power supplies, try putting a sensitive radio next to one of those Chinese bayonet LED "bulbs" , horrendous EMI/RFI......I do radio as well as super sensitive PEMF therapy and I do not want excess EMI/RFI in my environment so I do put up with the reduced life of COB LED's as opposed to switch mode regulated led fixtures, as most are! -
Single copper conductor wire or cca 10 gauge?

@littleharbor,
the bayonet based LED's are somewhat limited, the chip boards are much brighter and focused where you want the light and can be used in situations where it would be difficult to use a bayonet base led "bulb", I'm using the COB LED boards in fixtures that are very much better looking than RV fixtures they were originally meant for AC use.Leave a comment:

@bcroe,
That is exactly most of my solar gear is MidNite and the rest is from MMMOES.......MidNite,Mstar, MagnaSine,Outback.Exeltech, Schnieder, no cheep Chinese stuff where it counts! I do experiment a lot to find what works. Good 12 volt LED fixtures are not inexpensive, I can build one for <$10.00, better looking and brighter than what's available. A failed led string on a chip board is not a crisis! I use 6-12 chip boards in a 14" light fixture.Leave a comment:

There's tons of 12 volt led lights available for every imaginable RV light base configuration made. I cant imagine having to modify a board to fit your existing fixtures. Check eBay first for RV replacement led lights.Leave a comment:

something else, not spend the rest of my life fixing it over and over. I HATE STUFF
THAT BREAKS. Of course my Cleveland friend says, THE MORE STUFF YOU HAVE,
THE HARDER IT IS TO KEEP IT ALL WORKING. Bruce Roe

I will defiantly look into those lights I seen some that fit regular house light fixtures so I was considering those too but we'll see after a little more research.Leave a comment:

Single conductor copper wire or cca? Similar price on amazon. Both 10 gauge. All I need is wire and terminal and I'm all set to start harvestingLeave a comment:

LED Lighting on the dirt cheap........check out the "COB LED" boards on Amazon, (chip on board) these are arrays of led's on a pcb, 12 volt and small enough to glue into existing fixtures, they are 10 times or more efficient than incadensent bulbs. Some do not last too long but most will last several years at a couple of bucks each, they pay for themselves in short time due to the effeciency, not using excess solar power. These are bare boards and do not come with a fixture but fixtures are cheep, they can be repurposedLeave a comment:

Look at RV centers, the campers are all converting to LED lighting, you will find best selection of 12v LED's and fixtures there.Leave a comment:

links below are designed for boats which have strict standards, and should be applicable to many DC solar installs

What fuse size should I use for my battery to my fuse box? I don't have a inverter anymore.Leave a comment:

If I go down to 10 gauge I would have to use a different fuse type and not use in line. Maybe I should use the car audio fuses they use under the hood of cars.
all the in line ones I see are 16 gauge and I somehow found a 14 gauge.Leave a comment:
