I am at the final phase (I think?) making my 1.71KW off grid system code compliant. My situation before the question. I have 6 Solar World 285W panels, wired as 3 strings of 2. As they first enter the camp they go thru a Midnite Solar combiner box (MNPV6) with 3 din rail breakers at 15A ea. From there they wire to a system control box (MidNite Solar MNDC125) with a 125 main, a 63A with a .5A side for GFCI and a 2A breaker for a battery SOC meter and a 60A disconnect all running off the GFCI breaker. From there power runs to a TriStar MPPT 60 and back to the MNDC125 box. Then I have 4/0 battery cables to the Outback VFX3524 inverter and out of the inverter it goes to a main AC panel thru a 30A main breaker. Also from a MNDC125 box are the 4/0 cables to the battery box, which is fully enclosed and vented to outside using 2" PVC pipe with 2 long sweep elbows in cellar, plus a third pointing down outside to exclude rain.
Now, my question, I need to add a DC disconnect outside, where the conduit enters the camp. I bought a Sq D safety switch H362RB rated for 60A DC.It has 3 positions for 60A DC fuses, but I only have 3/4" conduit to it, thus I can only run 4 conductors in 6 AWG THHN to it. Which do I switch? I'm thinking Neg. from the MNPV6 after the 3 series panels are combined. That would be 2 wires 1 out and 1 back in, plus a ground. Is this correct? Or do I switch the Pos? Or do I need to change to 1" EMP and switch both Neg and Pos plus a ground? Or can I run POS and Neg out, and switch and use the EMT for ground?
