    Just until the load is removed. USB ports are designed to supply 1 A per port

    Removing the load would cause the batteries to charge quickly.

        I just want something to power the USB while I am not getting direct sunlight. This is just a starter project before I build my first panel.

            Maybe a large capacitor would be better? Ther are several solar/battery/portable/USB gadgets out there, building a homemade one will not get you much better. Good learning project.

                Would the capacitor be wired in like the battery? Would I need a voltage regulator to control the voltage output?
