5,000 feet at $95 per foot should be around $475,000.00 US, not 50 geo-grandie.

I'm sure you meant $0.08 kWh.

The whole deal may boil down to how old you are and whether your willing to make sacrifices
or not for the land.

Tax credits are only good IF you have the taxable income.

Unless your getting some kind of a GRANT which means money now.

Another option would be to get a little place in Town and hobby farm the badboy.
Better cruise that place making sure somebody is not growing a bunch of weed.

Or give it up $

Or go without.

Or give up Thousands per year to Fuel Costs for a while.

I feel your going to find a short Internet attention span for something like this.

How much of a Target is this place going to be?

Can you get plenty of insurance? How much?

Google Earth is going to have it's eye on you.

Always remember that during Katrina organized Gangs were in position with Communications Equipment
That Worked, Boats, Etc. before the Police made it down from the upper floors in New Orleans.

You can bet that Targets are being acquired for future moments of opportunity and squads of one type
or another
will be ready for the opportunities.

My bad: Was off decimal point on both the charges for the electrical service.

Not sure, but we may share similar philosophies and ideologies that motivates me to work thru these issues with the PV RE. Constructing this home will most likely be my last one, the kids and grand kids will probably change everything after I'm gone. Doesn't bother me, I want to do my part to ensure a safe place for me and my wife, right now, and have it available for the future generation, if and when they need it.

No money grant, only hard-earned savings and will have some modest taxable income. Nothing would please me more than to enjoy a "tax credit", especially if it is for something that was earned and not handed-out.

Depending upon how bad it gets will determine the value of the "Target". We intend to have "valuables" like plenty of food, water, shelter, etc. all the time. Its like they say 'round here, "stay on the high ground and keep your eyes open". I can't say if we will succeed, but we intend to try.

BTW, you reckon SK will share some more PV wisdom?

What is it you want to know?

First thing you need to do is an energy audit and determine just how much energy you need on a daily basis. You will need to do at least two audits. One for winter, and one for summer and use the larger of the two. I am afraid you might just find out letting the POCO build service to your home will be a bargain, not to mention leaving something more valuable and useful to the Children and Gran Children. $0.08/Kwh is just dirt cheap.
