    Breakers and shunts

Could you explain to me what a shunt does . I found a curcuit breaker and they said the shunt went along side the breaker. Where does the shunt hook up to and what does it do.

The SHUNT is a calibrated piece of wire, used to measure AMPS flowing through the circuit. The can get warm or even hot, I don't know that I'd park it next to a circuit breaker. The voltage across it (just a couple of millivolts) is used to calculate the amps flowing.

You need a Ckt Bkr to protect your wires and prevent a fire.

Shunts for amps, are optional measurements.

Battery Temperature Sensor for your charge controller, should be present, to provide correct charge voltage for your battery.

I am buying a new Morningstar 60 AMP MPPT charge controler and a tempiture probe . It will be coming in December.
I need to put a fuse between the charge controler and the batteries. I already have one from the batteries to the inverter.
          Thank you

Do you know your array size/wattage, and battery bank voltage? Just take your array watts, and divide by your battery bank voltage, and you will have MAX amps to size your fuse and wires to. This is a crude way, but likely within 10% of the "right" value.
