What's the intent here ? This looks like a list of all possible approved panels ? Why not just a link to the calif website

      Hi Mike

Can you or someone else explain the situation regarding approved panels that qualify for gov grants.

I thought that if a panel had UL certification that it qualified, but the panel I was looking for has UL cert but does not appear in that list for California.

What is the situation re approved panels in the US?

      thanks

      Phil

BTW the panels I was looking for is from Brightwatts, it has UL 1703 cert.

Each state has their own cert program. All I can suggest, is to go the the state site
http://www.gosolarcalifornia.org/ and see what's required to get listed. They keep adding and removeing stuff, so it's possible.

So, just because a panel has a UL cert, doesn't mean it will qualify?

Are there PV panels that don't have a UL cert that qualify?

          Phil

Panels without a UL cert will never qualify (unless they have some other equivalent cert that insurance companies honor.). But even safe panels that have UL cert, if the testing agency feels they do not deliver enough watts under normal rooftop conditions, won't pass. There may be some sort of Performance Bond needed too. I never paid much attention to it.

Is there any central resource that shows what panel qualify, for each state?

                  Hi Phil,

The panels that the original poster listed are ones that qualify for the California state rebates.

Every state has different policies when it comes to their state rebates. California just happens to have panels listed that you need in order to qualify for their rebate. All states don't have a particular list of panels that they go by, as long as they are UL cert that's usually good enough.

www.dsireusa.org is a site that lists all the rebates for each individual state and the requirements to get them.

                    Hi Jason
The reason for my initial posting was that the panel I was interested in had UL certification but did not appear in the California list (Mike posted the link).

So, even though they have the UL cert, Calif. has not recognised them. I understand that to qualify for rebates your panels must have UL cert, but just because they have
it, does not mean that they will qualify - as demonstrated in the panel I search for.

                    Shame!

                    Phil

maybe brightwatts didn't ask to be put on the list? that's all they would have to do if their equipment meets the guidelines in the link below.

Also, it says this on the gocalifornia website:

The Energy Commission is temporarily unable to process requests to add equipment to the eligible equipment lists. Please continue to send the necessary materials for equipment listing, and we will process them as soon as we are able.

here are the requirements the manufacturer would have to meet to be added to that list:
