Yes, you will need a turbine "dump load" controller, and a dump load, sized about 2x the turbine capacity.

When the turbine is putting out more than the battery system can handle you have to do something with it - that is the function of a 'dump load'. Can be a water heater or such as well.

Here is the link I was looking at for a free video about making your own solar panels and wind turbines. I think it would be fun and (as they say) easy and alot less inexpensive.

Wind and hydro generators (turbines) need to be kept loaded, or they can overspeed, and fling themselves apart in a spectacular manner.
