  • Happy 4th of July

well ole SK is off to Santa Fe NM and Colorado Springs for the holiday. Will be eating food like a hog in Santa Fe, wife spending our money at Galleries in SF, playing in a golf tournament at USAF Academy north of COS, do some rock hounding in the Rockies, and go to a 3D Fun Fly at Pikes Peak RC club. Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe 4th of July. For me second only to Xmas.

    God Bless

I've got a brutal plan for the holidays
Saturday: staged gunfight in a parade, 107F forecast, then another gunfight later that afternoon, only 99F
Then on the 4th, another parade & gunfights, followed by train robberies every 30 min forecast temps only 85F

I actually do not have anything planned for the holiday but will probably be dragged to someplace by my family. You all have some fun now.

Sounds great! Do you have a steam train locomotive? Ever see WESTWORLD? Bruce Roe

Yep, it's a steam engine, and yes, we are trying to avoid Westworlding the state..

And then the Skunk train that goes by our house (1 property boundary is RR tracks )
It's like living in a train museum here - I love it

Happy 4th of July - My wife bought me a 10lb brisket... Haven't made a brisket since I moved to CA almost 3yr ago, can't find them in the regular grocery stories, had to get it from a butcher. But we're doing the 4th, TEXAS STYLE.

Those are wonderful, look at those skinny rails. Diesels are very efficient, but no romance there. Haven't
see one working commercially since 1950. We need to keep a few of those going so people can see
where we came from. As long as they have proper safety equipment upgrades, run them. Those that
don't, put in a museum. The industrial revolution and the railroads were the tools to build the USA.

Roots has about 4 running steam locomotoves, full gauge tracks all around here - big engines make tracks look skinny, and other steam gear - shovels, donkeys, steam rollers. Like being in a candy store !
