The airport uses about 200,000 megawatt hours/year ( per https://www.lawa.org/uploadedFiles/O...ergySupply.pdf
If one panel produces 500 kWh/year, it'd take, oh, 200,000 of them to cover half the airport's needs. That's about 300,000 square meters of solar panel, or about 11,000 parking spaces worth, or about twice the area of parking lot C.
Probably want to work up to that gradually

I just hope that part of the feasability study includes the glare component for pilots depending on angle, season, and runway.

It would be a major bummer to pay for a relocation soon after it was installed.

There are quite a few major airports (Denver comes to mind) that have large solar arrays on the property.

They are engineered not to create glare that could affect the pilots.

I keep track of most of the large pv installations around the US using Google Earth. Unfortunately all of those "push pins" are on my work computer.

But I do remember a number of airports that have solar or are in the process of installing a system.

You would not believe the amount of MW that the US military have been installing on bases. One of the bases that have the most wattage is at Nellis AFB in Nevada.

The Rockford (airport) Solar Project was scheduled to go again this season, but I haven't heard
any details. They built 3 MW in 2012, going for 62 MW. Bruce Roe

There is another smaller array ~ 4.1MW just West of the Barnstable airport near the Otis Air National Guard Base.
