It sounded like his motor was at max rpm way before the finish line...
and he loss traction at the starting line.

I'd think a little taller tire woulda got him there quicker...
but 114mph is freaky fast when you're bouncing around with no doors or fenders.

Real common when using Series Wound Motor. They produce incredible torque at low RPM's and use a lot of current doing so. This is why cranes and monster shovels use DC Series Wound motors. Like the ole saying goes; Torque wins races and Horse Power is for dummies and car sales.

My little racing golf cart only goes 40 mph tops, but it goes from stop to 40 mph in just a few feet. I had to limit the current because it has so much torque off the line it will flip over backwards. I can even pull a small car out of a ditch with it if I can keep the front wheels on the ground.
