Yep shipped it all down there. Even have a 5/8 20 M dipole erected disguised as a flag pole. Have not connected anything and will have to get a Panamanian license first which should be easy since USA license are reciprocal privilege I think. MY PE License TX, OK, NM, AZ is reciprocal there and allows me to work as a engineer on the Canal project.

But yep very well insulated from attacks on the USA down there if it should happen. No country wants to see the Canal damaged.

But, on the other hand, it would seem to be an attractive target for anti-technology religious terrorists. But they probably would not affect you except indirectly, unlike a nuclear strike.

BUT his electrical knowledge in many areas was vast and I even learnt a few things that I was not really knowledgable about.

I will miss him it just wont be the same without his posts concerning my posts..

If he really is going to another country Iwish him well. I knowwhat its olike as I work in Australia but part time in Philippines and soon be retiring there permanently.
Well John I will miss you 2. Been fun. To show respect to you this will be last post on the Forum for sometime. I am sitting in NOLA airport right now and my flight is getting ready to board for Panama. So fair well to you and everyone else.

Don't worry I will be back sooner than you may think. Looks like I solved the internet problem down there. Well I did not solve it Dish Network did as they now offer Satellite up/down links for Internet service. Town I live in does not have internet other than DSL. No CATV at all. Looks like Dish will be getting a new customer very soon. Pretty cool as I can watch about any USA loacl channel I want. Even Dallas and my home town Tulsa OK.

So long guys, see you later.

The bandwidth can be quite good and the streaming performance likewise. But some of your applications will not be happy with the long latency caused by the distance of the satellite hop and you may need to tweak a bunch of your internet settings in your OS and/or applications. It can be done without too much trouble, but if you do not do it performance, particularly in interactive environments can really suck (technical term.)
