There is some good in the post but in particular I take exception with -
1) Quality - You need to stick with an international company that certifies the quality with their own name or a large Chinese company that has a name to protect. Solar is no different than toys or food and in that part of the world money comes first.
2) If you find a company selling something for 3000$ that you can buy for 200$ from China - stay away from the company as they are shysters. There would be few cases if any like this. The poster can provide names if they wish.
3) About the trusting the inspector (who may or may not know what he is doing) your PE (you have some reassurance here as you can sue the PE) and your own willingness to risk your life - most people have no idea what they are getting in to and are not capable of knowing there is such a judgement to be made.
