I think it's a great idea! It's not sufficient for engineering students just to be able to deal with putting a few nuts and bolts together. This project will expose their minds to some really critical engineering economics issues apart from the standard design ones. Who knows they might even come up with some novel approaches.Comment

I would like to see something like that expanded into a covered parking lot where it can generate power for EV charging. It's a lot of money up front but with more charging stations that can get some of the energy from the sun will eventually sell more commuter EV's.I think it's a great idea! I just read an article in today's paper about a Mayor in Lancaster Cali. They built one of those type parking lots with solar panels. He is also shooting for creating enough Solar PV generation to exceed the towns needs. Of course that is only for the sunny days. Still need to buy electricity during the night.Comment

I said it would get a lot of "greats" from greens - they want points from some prof apparently - no mention of anything except an architects drawing - that leaves out everything except a poorly oriented structure.I think it's a great idea!
