considering suncap solar lease in MD

we're building a house with a 7 ton geothermal system and are considering a 7.1 kw suncap lease.
part of the struggle is not knowing what electric bills are going to be and estimating savings. the biggest hook right now is they say we can include our foam insulation in this which makes it a minimal additional investment. how do they handle that in 20 years when the lease expires?

    Delmarva power is electric co.

    thank you for any input.

Including the insulation in the solar package may not be exactly legal.
Bigger question is why are you considering a lease in Maryland.
7 KW will cost about 24K, You get the credits, SREC's grants and get to roll the costs into the mortgage. making the interest deductible. a lease is not deductible.

I can't roll the cost into the mortgage, and leasing eliminates headaches of selling credits myself. The up front cost is easier for me to absorb too.

As long as you realize that leasing will in the long run will have a lower return on the investment than a purchase.
As far as selling credits Sign up for a 3 or 5 year annuity agreement on the SREC sales. Sign once and get checks once a quarter for the term of the contract. It really isn't difficult at all. Most dealers will set this up for you with the aggregator.
Most dealers will also finance for one year which allows you to have most of the credits if not all before you make any payments at all. Now you are getting very close to the lease cost at the end but you still maintain all the financial benefits.

Its not entirely legal but I've seen it done, people have included SES upgrades in the same way. Just raise the price per watt by "x" amount so that you're basically financing the other stuff with monthly payments.
