  • What is a good price for this system?

Hi we have a 4.8kw sytem on a two story house. 15 QCells 320w or Similar Panels-QCells 320w BOB G5
With a Solar Edge Single Phase inverter with HD-wave technology.
We paid $31,000 on a loan. We think we paid too much...especially since it hasn't been working. What would be a fair price for a system like this?

All depends on what part of the country you're from.

Don't beat yourself up about paying too much and be real careful believing what folks on the internet will tell you a fair price is without posting their invoice.

We are in Calif. We believe we paid way too much for this system.

There seems little question that you were taken advantage of. As discussed when you posted back in February, most of us feel you were charged at least double what would be expected in your area if not more.

This graph shows 5kW system quotes from California installers up to this point in 2022 that were collected by a referral service. Your data point of $31,000 would be way off to the right on this chart.

You are correct, as explained earlier. My only suggestion is to get it working or file a claim with the state contractors license board if the installer fails to provide service.

Much too much. Eff'ing gougers. I just repriced a 5kw system with optimizers and its $7k plus tax and installation. Installation is $10k tops.

Judging by your comment "installation is 10K tops" you're just guessing and don't have a hard number quote. refer to post #2
