    Off Grid Solar, Solar Water, Wind, Spring Development

    Greetings Folks;
    I'm a semi-backwoods guy from North Idaho, and I've done a few things around the house....in the last year.
    Installed a 7.25KW roof mounted solar array, rebuilt & installed a 1934 Jacobs Wind Power Plant with a 50 foot tower, and built & installed a solar hot water heater. The panels & windmill are connected to (4) forklift batteries at 48VDC, and I also have an old Lister GM90 16/1 that I rebuilt, and is working in the garage, now. I'm going to document some of what I've done at our home, and share it up with like minded individuals. I just finished a small article on our windmill, it's at http://revrealty.us/offgrid-windpower.html and the one I wrote on our homemade Solar Hot Water Heater is at http://revrealty.us/offgrid-solarwater.html . If any of you have any questions, feel free to email me. I don't sell any of this stuff, and I'm no expert, but I'll be glad to help, if I can. There's a lot of disinformation out there & it's good to get around it.

    We have also installed a root cellar, using a 40 foot container, and indoor hydroponic gardens, using almost no power, and developed a spring. I'll be writing stuff up on those, too, later, as I have the minutes!
    Have a great day-
    Chris

    Welcome. Good catch on the old Jacobs. Wish I had one of them around.

      Thanks!

      Thanks for the welcome, Mike, and the kind words.

      The Jacobs is awesome, but it takes some tinkering to make it work right. It just amazes me how it can sit there is what I think are ridiculous winds & never get hurt.
      I saw below that you have a 6/1, what kind? (Metro, Satyajeet, Jkson, etc.)?

        It's a Metro. Appeared pretty clean, hard to get the last air bubbles out of the injector. Still working on bolting it firmly down, before I finish up the plumbing and add water & fuel.

          Are you going to thermsiphon it or use a pump for cooling?
          This is my second one, I had a 6/1 before, & sold it when I finished this one. Good luck on getting those bubbles out, they can be a pain....

            I'll be using a 20 gallon thermosiphon tank.

              Good for you, I think thermosiphon is the only way to go, if you have the room.
