    Decommissioning system

Have some old evacuated tubes as solar panels and I'm now looking at decommissioning system to just operate on the electric immersion heater.
Is it ok if I drain solar side of the system, leave the tubes on the roof and reconfigure electric to a simple timer.
My main concern is what will happen to the tubes and will it be safe?
    Thanks in advance

The tubes should be spring-loaded and able to be removed, and if still operable, there is a market for selling good tubes. Leaving them installed, with no water in the manifold as a heatsink, will lead to their demise and then they are scrap.
