  • Retrofit ext. elec. fixture to solar

I would like to put some led lights inside a light bulb and power these from solar cells. I would like to operate for a few hours when dark as do these garden lights. I have looked at parts but have no idea what I need.

Please do not try to put the LEDs inside a light bulb, or eventually somebody will screw it into a 120 volt AC socket. You can mount them inside a light fixture instead of the bulb socket and connect the wiring of the fixture to your DC source.

You need a solar panel, a battery, and what is usually called a solar light controller. The controller will charge the battery from the panel and control when the lights are turned on, starting at sunset.
