Has anyone any knowledge or experience with this? I'm wondering if it might be a good option for someone who has an older roof that they are not ready to replace, but wants to go solar now.

A friend of mine has done exactly that for basically the same reason, the shed was new, the roof direction was right and he wanted to do some work on the house in the near future and did not want to pull panels off that had just been put on.Comment

Measure the full distance from your array on shed to your main breaker box. Use this wire length to figure wire size to use so you stay within allowable voltage drop.Best solar day 80 kwh. Online solar 4/10/2012.Comment

Its absolutely doable as long as the structure you are intending on using has sufficient load-bearing capability and is within reasonable proximity of your electric service. A lot of people put solar on their barns or workshops or other buildings on their property for one reason or another, its a very good option indeed.Comment

I've run into problems in San Diego where the barn/garage was not permitted so the city/county would not OK the installation without first getting a building permit for the existing structure.Comment

all in one kits
I would think that it would be a pretty good business plan to sell a kit for solar sheds. So far, I only know of one company that is doing this (powershed) and their prices are too high. Is that the only company out there that sells a shed that comes with everything you need to connect a decent sized system to the grid?Comment
