3.9KW System Quote - Please Help

    Hi,

I am hoping someone can advise me here. Last night I had organised someone to come around and quote for solar panels, with a view of understanding more and making a decision early next year. Obviously with yesterdays anouncement this has all changed now.

The quote from last night was for a 3.9KW system on a southerly facing roof at 34

5 Sun Hours per day in UK? If you are in UK or Europe anywhere 5 Sun Hours per day is not possible.

To all - please ignore this post - I made a mess of it - better post following! Russ[I]

Hi Richard, I suggest you dump this party like a hot potato - they are either crooked or stupid. In either case they are wrong.

For north France (inland) PV Watts suggest you may have an annual average insolation value of something like 3 kW/m2/day which is a low number. That would generate approximately 3,000 kWh AC per year using a 4 kW DC system.

Right Mike - I messed things up quite nicely -

I assume that 34 degrees is the roof pitch. At 50+ degrees North, the tilt should be higher...

In any event, the UK government have halved the FIT, because it was "too popular". The idea was to reduce carbon emissions by generating from non carbon based systems. But clearly this is political bull****, because basically they cant afford it. With the new FIT, the quote means that there is no real payback, as compared to putting the cash outlay in the bank, unless of course you want to do the decent thing and save the planet.

If so do not expect any help from short term thinking politicians
