Earth Terminal/Earth Wire

Hi, my pure sine wave inverter comes with a thin yellow wire with an alligator clip on one end, I'm assuming this is to ground it to an RV, boat, etc. It doesnt say in the manual.

I am setting this up at home, if I dont need this yellow ground wire, do I need any ground?

I read that some inverters have their own ground, not sure if this is true.

If you look closely, his photo shows a yellow wire with a green stripe.

"I am setting this up at home" doesn't say enough about your plans for the inverter. Is this part of a permanent system for an off-grid cabin or a temporary power situation such as a detached shop that doesn't have a grid power connection?

Thanks, this is going into garage of the main house actually not far from the main breaker box(10ft or so) which was gonna be my next question is: can I just ground the system there at the breaker box?

I have another open question, im really new at this so please forgive the basic questions. (I bought way to big of an inverter).

Yes, one ground at the breaker, and another where it enters the house [10ft away].

Okay thanks, I'll assume the ground where it enters the house has to be a new in-ground copper rod?

Yes. You can not just connect to household plumbing or anything else.

You would need a Fresh copper rod pounded X feet down. once that is established, then other things could be attached to your copper rod.
