As stated in another thread, I'm moving my small solar setup from my shop to a houseboat that I am building. I feel that this should be such a simple answer, but still want some input from someone else. I want a switch that will change my power source from my genny to the inverter that is powered by the solar setup. What I am trying to do is be able to switch from the genny as the power source to the inverter (solar setup) when I am not running the genny. I know I could use a marine on/off/on switch, but that seems like overkill in a way. Suggestions?

Are you talking about switching AC or DC? -
AC, one input from the Genny, the other from the inverter which is fed by the batts/panels.Comment

The marine switch is likely for dc battery change over.
Look for ac generator change change switch. Common in Australia.Comment

If you use an Inverter/Charger you simply plug the inverter into the genny and it has the transfer switch built in. Plus you charge your batteries at the same time.2 Kw PV Classic 200, Trace SW 4024 460ah,Comment
