Calculate solar panel output

How are system rated? do I use panel out put or inverter output? I have 4x455w panels but my inverters only put out 1500w is this a 1500w system or a 1720w system?

I would say your inverter output is the limiting factor and not the panel wattage.

Although at 1500w I would say you are building an off grid system and not grid tied
