Replacement value of old solar panels

Trying to determine replacement value of panels alone (not including inverters).

My panels were installed in 2006 and at that time worth ~$35k (60 130 W Kyocera panels = 7800 W).

Can someone give me a rough idea of what that would cost to replace nowadays?

    Thanks!

Well panel costs have come down below $1/watt but labor costs have gone up and are different depending on where the work is being performed. So your question does not have a simple answer.

What I would think be thinking about is, if you were to design that 7.8k system today, how would you do it.. probably 20 x 400w panels.. or something similar, so it would take a lot less space as the tech has changed quite a bit since 2006. In January I bought 405 watt panels for $250 each. To build a 7.8k system, that would be $5,000 - 26% SITC, new panels would have a value of $3,700. Your panels are going to require more racking, and be pretty close to the end of their warranty. If you found someone locally who had a lot of space then they might be willing to pay some money, but I doubt it would be worth the effort, unless you need to expand your system and need the space. Just my $0.02.

I ended up estimating $1 per Watt and just going with that, thank you all. I do understand Labor would be on top of this and that's ok.

Yea, the current cost of a 7.8 kW system, either turnkey installed or DIY your choice including a new inverter,+ whatever current array removal and disposal costs might be and well as any roof remediation costs. I'd also claim zero salvage cost for the existing system.

Old arrays have no market. If anything is salvageable, call it a bonus/found $$.

The process of replacement of solar panels is quite easy to understand.

You have to remove the existing system and install the new system with the same configuration. This is obvious that the price is going to be different than the earlier time.

Still, It is recommended to take the help of a solar provider who can inspect the entire system and correctly determine the estimated cost for the entire replacement process.
