  • Solar Edge Monitoring Question

    Hello,

I am using Solar Edge to monitor my PV system. Does anyone know if there is a way to display what each panel is producing? I reached out to Solar Edge and they started helping me, but then stopped responding. I have seen other installs where it actually showed a diagram of the array. Thanks so much.

Yes, there's a view that shows the layout of each panel and the output on each one. It shows the view on this link:

    https://www.solaredge.com/us/products/pv-monitoring#/

Check with your installer on setting up account access.

Thanks. I will go talk to the installer instead of Solar Edge. Hopefully it's something simple they can get me access too.

Yes, depending on if you use a NIC or Cell connection, you can get sorta real time data. Cell is delayed by 4 hours so... And yes, you may need to get your installer to set you with access.

You can also use their Web REST interface to pull down actual panel data if you do it by the day. The longer the time range for your request the less granular the data gets. For example, if you pull data for a month you may only get daily totals for each panel.

Interesting. I didn't know you could drill down to the panel level data. I've been using an Excel spreadsheet to download hourly data for the total kW produced for my system using SolarEdge's Monitoring API but haven't tried downloading/looking at the panel level yet. Mostly because I didn't know that capability existed. At least, I couldn't find any info on getting panel data when I read thru SolarEdge's API manual. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place or just didn't pay enough attention as I read thru the API manual. Is the REST interface different from the Monitoring API?

I started looking for it and can't find it now. My apologies. I guess I was thinking it was part of the API but I must have been thinking about exporting the chart data. It has been a while since I dug into it.

This an example section from the chart data export for power for a week.

I sent an email to PowerHome and I hope to hear back from them soon. I exported my chart data, but sadly it gives me very little data.

Like garrent, I only get the system total when I export the chart data not the panel level data you are getting. You must have a different access/account level than we do. Time to talk to my installer about upping my access level.

Try charting/exporting just for a day or week. You should see more of the panel data then.

I don't have any special access that I know.

I was thinking the same thing and tried just exporting a day. It gave me the same two rows, but instead of days in the "Time" column it gave me the time in 15 minute intervals and System Production in the other column. I'll include snapshot of what my dashboard looks like.

The header of my SolarEdge Monitoring Portal just has the options for Dashboard, Layout and Admin. I've seen others that have additional options like Charts. I assume that is what I need to get to the panel level data.

Yes, I think you are right. If you visit this link they show a picture with a lot more options: https://www.solaredge.com/us/products/pv-monitoring#/

                          Try this.

Go to layout. Click & drag over the panels to select them. Once you select some/all, you should get a popup like this:
                          2019-12-06_174834.jpg

I selected power for the above spread and then you get the chart. Near the top right should be export to excel.
                          2019-12-06_175207.jpg
Click it and it should open excel with the various panel data.

If you do it for each day, you can almost get to the minute although the optimizers only poll about every 20 minutes - at least in my case.

I finally have the layout on my dashboard, yay! I was able to talk with a customer service rep for Power Home and at first they said their company would not allow customers to have access to the layout. Once I established that I paid a large sum for this system and I felt I have a right to be able to view the data, she spoke with her manager and they gave me access.

                            Thanks everyone for your help!
