Advice Needed: Surge protector on meter?

Hi everybody,

I was hoping to get a bit of advice.
I've had a SurgeShield surge protector installed on my meter since before switching over to my solar, net metering system. Do I still need the surge protector?

From what I can see that SurgeShield device is something your POCO usually installs that will protect the entire home appliance from lightning or power surges your main panel can see from the grid.

I would not remove it because it should protect you from Grid issues which are probably more frequent then issues from your solar array.
