I submitted my solar plans to the city for a Panasonic HIT 335W 30 panel 10kw system utilizing a 10kw solar edge HD and the more I go over the plans in my head the more I think about little things I should have done differently in the design. I built the plans myself so changing them is no problem, i'm truly doing a start to finish DIY solar install
Here is a bit about my setup before I get to the question: I have 18 panels on the south face of the roof and 12 panels on the east side. I'm utilizing a 10KW solaredge HD Wave inverter and it allows for three string inputs. My problem was that at 18 panels on the south roof i'd be barely over the 6kw per string allowable by poweredge(335x18=6030W>6000W max). So I broke this array up into two strings of 9 (8 was the minimum for the power optimizers) and put the east array in the last string at 12 panels.
Is this the best solution? I am thinking I should have just done one strings of 17 and one of 13, but changed the plans at the last minute to help keep the wiring simple and am now having second thoughts. Could not matter at all and thats why I could not find any similar questions with solar edge optimizers in my search for clues. My only thinking is that at 17 panels in a string they'd be able to produce longer than 9 due to having more headroom to keep voltages up and hit production levels.
This is a project i've been thinking about for years and am really excited to finally get the process started, turned the plans in a week ago and probably wont hear back from them for another three weeks. So any changes after that would most likely delay it even more. I'm in North Florida so not planing on starting the install until Sept-Oct anyway when its much cooler. No fun crawling around on the roof or attic when it's 104
