  • Error 4301 on SMA sunny boy Inverter 5.0/6.0 US-40

Noticed a red light on one of my Inverters today with event code 4301 I looked it up in the manual and it says " Inverter has detected a electric arc. The inverter interrupts grid feed in and cannot connect to utility grid " I will be calling my Solar Company tomorrow. What would cause this?

Yes it is amazing how many electricians will not or can not follow the torque specifications for electrical connections.

Most electricians say they can "feel" the proper torque.....but they are mostly mistaken.

I assume the loose connection could be anywhere but where would you look first ?

I would start with any and all wire nut connections....then move on to any clamp connections....then to screw connections. Go to potentially wet locations first.

Assuming you have MC4 connections....disconnect each and look for corrosion. When reconnecting the MC4 use the wrench and make sure the nut on each side of the connection is tight.
