GYR Focus meter - can't go to negative values?

My new utility net meter was put in. It started at 00000. I saw it go up to 60, but now it is reading 00000 and showing an animation like it is counting backwards, but will not display a negative value.

Why is this? Am I really not getting credit for the power I am producing because this thing won't go below 00000?

That is a question for your POCO.
Most net meters have internal counters for total export and total import and the value displayed is usually the difference between the two. If that is the case for yours, the display value that will not go negative is an annoyance but will not prevent proper net billing.
The non-visible special counters are particularly common when tiered or Time Of Use rates are in effect.

That said, it is common practice for most POCOs to preset the visible counter to a large value.

It does seem to track + and -, and could have displayed them, but the POCO chose "net" for the display. It would be nice if it cycled through all three.

BTW, before my Solar was operational, I ran my own calculations on what I expected it to produce for energy. I forecast 3.298 MWh for August. I was wrong - the energy produced was 3.296 MWh. Wow - amazingly close.

I suppose it will all work correctly on the billing then. They are held to certain rules after all. My next bill is this week so maybe it will detail the production and consumption.

I called GYR. The guy said that there are two buckets inside the meter. One counts import and one export. The display shows the difference. He said if it starts on 00000, it will count back to 99999, then 99998, then 99997 and is supposed to display that. He said there is no way to program it to stop at 0 while in net mode. He said it has no way to display a negative number.

The animated lines show power direction. My lines were moving to the left, which means counting backwards.

He said for me to check it again just in case I happened to catch it when it was on 00000 and it should go below that. If not, to call the POCO and make sure it is programmed correctly in net mode.

He also mentioned the security mode. In that, it always counts up no matter the direction, in case someone flips it upside down. And that is the mode where you can be (I assume unintentionally as a side-effect) double-billed if you make your own power too.

It is on 99982 now. So by strange coincidence it happened to be on 0 when I looked at it last time.
