MA SREC Sale - SRECTrade - "Managed" vs "Unmanaged".....

So have had my 8.x KW system live since April, and have SRECTrade.com as my broker (set up by my Installer).

I get to "cash in" my 1st SREC next quarter (August).

They (SRECTrade) offer a "Managed" sale service where they offer/try to sell your SRECs at the highest price (supposedly) by "managing" the sale, or I can chose "Unmanaged" and set a minimum acceptable price.

What are the MA folks here doing? What has been your experience with SRECTrade and their "Managed" sale offering vs setting a Minimum price yourself?

I am also in Mass and have a new system (8.5 kW) which began operating in May, and also have SRECTrade. SRECTrade's website has this note about when SRECs are available to sell:

"Note that MA SRECs are issued on a quarterly delay. If you did not generate at least 1,000 kWh in the January to March generation period, you will not receive an SREC on July 15, 2016. Instead your generation amount will carry over to the April to June generation period for October 15, 2016 issuance."

My general feeling is that the price of SRECs will go down as more renewable generation comes on-line. I am interested to see if other folks think it is worth it to hold out for a higher price or just sell the SRECs at the managed price.

I am in MA as well and my system has been up and running since December. I currently have generated 6.4mwh but none of my SREC's have "minted" yet. I believe they will all mint in July. My administrator is Knollwood energy who was setup by my installer. I currently have the auto sell option for each quarter. The other options I have are setting minimum price points or using their managed process like you described. I am still unsure what I want to do. I know that the pricing in MA has been very volatile. I believe the last round was selling around $260 or so. Last year, I believe late summer SRECs were sole north of $400 from what I've read. I don't "need" the income so I am fine holding them but, like you, I am concerned that pricing will come down a lot more each quarter as more people go live and the caps aren't raised enough.

Not sure if the July price has been set yet (probably should login to check!) so I may decide when I know what the pricing and outlook is. Knollwood seems to do a write-up that gives you the kind of state of the union for SRECs. If anything is worth mentioning, I will post back.

I also go through Knollwood. Initially I requested them to sell at their discretion, but have changed this to sell every quarter at market price. I believe the prices will come down over time. My system came online November last year.

          Dust...

you and I spoke before our installs, right? You went with the same company as me? Acushnet? How has your system been running? Mine is doing better than expected so far. My system went liveat the end of November and my last bill was from February. Currently running 1000+ kwh surplus even with my pool and AC running. My system is supposed to cover about 65% of my estimated annual usage. Since it was tunred on, my total usage per my meter has been 1500 kwh for the 7 months or so (my peak meter reading was 2550). I know the fall and winter will kill my output but my system has been solid so far. June has been my best month generating 1.51mwh so far with 2 more days to go. My system is 10.26K but my panel face dead east.

Interesting. So today is SREC minting date and I checked my account and saw that I had 2 SREC's added today. So I assume that is for the power I generated through March and the other 5 I have generated won't hit my account until the October minting (my total generation since going live in 12/15 is now 7.5kwh). This is my first time dealing with this so wasn't sure what would actually mint as I didn;t know if my meter was reporting each month or if it is just read at a minting period. Guessing it reports each month so they were able to see the reading on 3/31.

Edit** I can actually dive in and see that the 2 that minted were for January and feb. I probably didn't have enough in March so that will show up in the Q2 reporting in October.
