    Enphase Micro-Inverters vs. SolarEdge w/Optimizers.....

I'd like to get folks feedback on what their professional feedback is on:

Enphase Micro-Inverters vs. SolarEdge Inverter w/Optimizers.....

I went with Enphase Micro-Inverters on my 29 panel system due to:

    a) Shading issues that I needed the "panel level" control for, and their 25 yr warranty.

    b) I understand that the "Optimizers" will last longer (20+ yrs) than the actual "main" inverter (10+ yrs), at which point it will need to be replaced (by me, paid for by me, as the Warranty listed was, I believe, 10 yrs).

Thoughts? What is the actual replacement cost of a 10 Kw SolarEdge Inverter, with parts and labor?

    b) who told you solaredge inverters would need to be replaced at 10 years. They come with a 12 year warranty that can be extended to 20 and even 25 years.
who told you that the optimizers would need to be replaced at 20 years? they come with a 25 year warranty and are more rugged than micro inverters.

This has been hashed out several times here. SolarEdge is slightly more efficient than enphase and on medium to large systems, cheaper.

You didn't say what modules and inverters you have. EnPhase is not optimally designed for the most efficient modules.

$2200 to buy the inverter. Seems easy enough to put it in yourself, but I am sure some electricians would find a way to charge $500-$1000 to do it.

That is full cost including the connection/DC disconnect cabinet at the bottom, which shouldn't need to be replaced.

My understanding is that Solaredge has an inverter replacement program so the cost should be lower than the full cost of new inverter. As ButchDeal said not everything in the inverter should need to be replaced. With that said, I'm not messing with replacing an inverter. My electricity skills end at replacing outlets and light switches.

In that case, assuming I understood the instructions I'd do it.

Honestly the biggest issue I had with replacing light switches is getting everything back in the junction box and closed up, when there was 3 switches in one box. With the very old switches the wiring is very hard in inflexible and there's often a significant amount of "extra" wiring. It took me hours to get the stupid switches all back in and closed up, one time I replaced switches from a 3 switch box. The good news is there's only one inverter in that box.
